Uzair Bawany is the Chief Executive - the Contact Recruitment Group. In Jan 2003, Uzair orchestrated an MBO of Contact Recruitment, and grew the business from a single London office with eight people, to an International Group which currently employs over thirty staff globally with additional offices in Singapore and India. The Group turnover for 2008 was approximately £10 million – three times larger than when he acquired the business. He has grown the business through organic growth as well as acquisitions. The Group’s two key locations are London and Singapore where the Company provides consultative recruitment services for banking and finance, technology and support services. Uzair is based in London but spends one week a quarter in Singapore overseeing business operations and reviewing the business strategy. He is currently Vice-Chair and sits on the executive Board of the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo). APSCo focuses on bringing together staffing firms with strong morale principles and a commitment to always work to a high service charter. The exec team focuses on ways to raise the bar amongst our peers and industry in general. Uzair also sits on the Executive Committee for the East London Business Alliance. ELBA’s work focuses on helping businesses to implement long term positive change in East London through the community, employment and legacy programmes. He also has recently been invited to join the Leadership committee at Mosaic. The charity was founded by HRH The Prince of Wales in November 2007 and works towards a more integrated and thriving society where all individuals, regardless of background, are supported in realizing their potential. Uzair has strong thoughts on the year ahead and the needs of business to adapt to a different business landscape. He believes many businesses have still not woken up to the reality of what may happen. He has recently been quoted in various trade presses with his thoughts on views on 2010. In Q3 2008, Uzair took the bold step to re-structure many areas of the Group in light of prevailing market conditions and is a firm believer in trying to stay ahead of the curve.
