Details of the first ever MBA programme specifically designed for recruitment executives were unveiled at a high powered launch event hosted by Barclays Corporate, the global financial services provider, at its Canary Wharf headquarters on the 27th January 2011.
The MBA programme is a collaboration between the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) and the prestigious Henley Business School. The idea was initiated by APSCo CEO Ann Swain.
The launch was hosted by Barclays, who are the sponsors of the programme, on the 30th floor atrium of its landmark headquarters, which commands stunning views of London.
The launch event provided a major opportunity for key recruitment sector stakeholders to meet the programme creators and key representatives from the Business School. The three year flexible programme will follow the structure of the Henley MBA and in addition include recruitment specific content and activities along the following pathways:
• Developing and maintaining performance in the recruitment market Considers managing high performance, motivation and the psychological contract for people working within the international recruitment industry
• Business Process Strategy Examines business strategy, infrastructure, technology and business process to improve competitive advantage in the recruitment market
• The Global Recruitment Business Environment Brokering deals across several countries to establish the international footprint of an organisation, including financial, legal and cultural aspects. It also considers knowledge transfers and promoting best practice across countries
• Contractual issues and risk assessment Considers UK and international contract issues, identifying, assessing and managing risks to create value for the recruitment industry
The programme, which will have the title of MBA – An Executive Programme for International Management (International Recruitment Management), will be delivered by flexible learning with some residential stays at the School’s beautiful Greenlands Campus and will include a one week international placement.
The MBA is open to experienced managers with a degree and at least three years recruitment sector experience, or senior managers without a degree and at least five years industry experience.
Ann Swain, Chief executive of APSCo, comments: “It was a huge thrill to launch the MBA programme in such style. Stakeholders in the recruitment sector and Henley Business School have invested huge amounts of time in this and I can’t wait for the first students to start this September.”
“I’d like to extend my personal thanks to those individuals within the sector who took time out of their core businesses to form part of the steering committee which has worked to define and articulate what this unique programme will look like.”
The enrolment papers are available from the website of Henley Business School. Candidates have already begun enrolling on the programme.
APSCo members will be entitled to a 10% discount. While APSCo members are entitled to a discount, the MBA programme is open to the whole recruitment market. APSCo does not stand to gain financially from the MBA programme.
