APSCo staffing industry awards winners 2009

APSCo staffing industry awards winners 2009

The winners of the APSCo Staffing Industry Awards were announced on Friday November 27st at the 10th annual APSCo charity ball, with the awards sponsored by SmartWork.com, the specialist accountancy practice for contractors, in aid of ChildLine.

Entries for the APSCo Staffing Industry Awards were made by directors and employees of APSCo member companies and judged by an independent panel of experts. The judging panel was chaired by Stephen Peerless, the respected and well-known consultant to the recruitment sector. This is Stephen’s 7th and final year as chairman of the judging panel and he was presented with an engraved silver money clip from Tiffany’s as a token of our appreciation for his dedication. Stephen is a great supporter of APSCo and we are very grateful for the time and effort he has put into making these awards such a success.

Judges for the Recruitment Company of the Year categories were: Don Byrne, Contractor & Supplier Manager at a leading banking group, Philip McMullan, Editor of Recruitment Consultant, and Derek McAllan, Partner at KPMG.

Judges for Innovator and Recruitment Sector Provider of the Year awards were: Brian Bath, a procurement and outsourcing specialist and Geoff Pinch, an IT and management consultant.

Ann Swain, APSCo Chief Executive, says: “This year’s awards have been the most hotly contested yet with a record number of entries in all categories. The standard of the entries get higher every year and all entrants have the right to be proud of their achievements in what has been a hugely challenging year for the recruitment sector.”

The winners were:

This company continues to demonstrate its quality of performance and commitment to go that one step further than most of its competitors. Special Commendation

Parasol
The judges had a hard time choosing the winner for the Recruitment Sector Service Provider of the Year. Although Lander Associates were the eventual winner, the judges wanted to highly commend Parasol.

In the increasingly regulated business environment, this year’s winner provided the recruitment sector, its candidates and customers with a simple, yet thorough and highly practical solution to a critically important issue.

Individual Contribution to APSCo 2009

Winner: Frances Lewis – Partner at Blake Lapthorn

For her invaluable help and support always, but in particular this year, for her generous time commitment, clarity of thought and legal expertise in aiding APSCo with the complexities of the current legislative landscape.

Individual Contribution to APSCo 2009

Winner: Richard Herring – Chairman of the APSCo Executive Committee and Director at Volt Europe

For his long term enthusiasm and support of our association and in particular, during this economically challenging time;  for his wisdom, guidance and sheer hard work as Chairman through our first year as APSCo.

The winning companies all received an engraved award and the 2009 APSCo Winners logo.  These awards are the only ones that require shortlisted companies to make a personal appearance to answer questions from the judges – not always a comfortable experience as some of our winners will attest!  Well done to all of you.
