Important information about the APSCo Compliance Review

As a requirement of membership, all affiliates offering accountancy/umbrella services to contractors complete the APSCo Compliance Review. This annual review provides a high level assessment of a provider's compliance, at the moment in time when it is carried out, with certain aspects of prevailing tax legislation and ethical practices and is a minimum standard for affiliate members offering umbrella or accountancy services. It has been designed solely to allow APSCo members to refer contractors and prospective contractors to the affiliate members section of the APSCo website to select a provider, with at least some comfort that some checks have been carried out. However, tax compliance in this area is very complex and constantly changing, and the review cannot be and is not intended to be a comprehensive audit. In particular, it does not check the organisation's financial standing. It does not replace the need for staffing companies, contractors and others to carry out their own checks using professional advisors, and as such APSCo does not accept or assume responsibility for any direct or indirect consequences arising from reliance upon it. Please note that only organisations based in the United Kingdom complete the review. It is not possible to check companies based outside the United Kingdom as they will be subject to local legislation and compliance regulations (as well as some specific and complex UK regulations which this review cannot cover).

Although this review is conducted by Professional Passport, it is not equivalent to their full audit which is more in depth and offers further compliance and risk management services. Affiliate members choosing to undertake the full Professional Passport Audit are exempt from the APSCo Compliance Review (albeit you should please note that Professional Passport is an independent organisation and as such APSCo does not accept or assume responsibility for any direct or indirect consequences arising from reliance upon the Professional Passport Audit).
